Input the the total perimeter of your deck and stairs if you plan to have railing in these areas. Otherwise input only the length of railing that applies to your layout.
Input the number of railing posts. Posts in most cases should never be farther apart then 6 feet. For spacing greater than 6 feet be sure your posts and rails can handle the extra load.
Input the nominal size of the railing posts. This function accounts for the actual size of the post.
Input the type of baluster you will be using.
Input the space between balusters.
